Are You Ready to Be a Soccer Parent?
Joining a youth soccer team is a big step for the whole family. NorCal Premier Soccer, in collaboration with Soccer Parenting, has put together a short video series to help parents understand what to expect and how they can support a positive experience for their player.
The series asks five questions:
- Are you ready to let another adult take the lead?
- Are you ready to embrace your child’s disappointments?
- Are you ready to give your child autonomy?
- Are you ready to model self-control?
- Are you ready to prioritize the team?
Each video is only a few minutes long, and English and Spanish versions are available. Whether you’re new to club soccer or a seasoned soccer parent, they’re a good reminder of the important role we play on the sidelines.
Beginning in 2026–27, US Club Soccer will transition to a new grade-based age grouping framework. This change is designed to better align players with their school year and peer group. As a result, some players may see an adjustment to their age group placement for the upcoming Fall season.
